Bristol is one of the UK’s top visitor destinations seamlessly merging its cosmopolitan diversity with its seafaring maritime history. 10 miles to the west of The Park, Bristol is an exciting city, where the picturesque harbour winds its way right through the city centre.

Famous Bristol attractions include the SS Great Britain, the Clifton Suspension Bridge, Explore-At-Bristol, the Bristol Industrial Museum and the British Empire and Commonwealth Museum.

Brunel’s SS Great Britain

Built and launched in Bristol in 1843, Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s maritime masterpiece was built in 1843 and was the world’s first ocean-going, propeller driven iron ship. In 1970 she was rescued from the Falkland Islands where she was restored to her former glory. Experience what life was like for her Victorian passengers and crew and witness the 3 storey tall moving engine.

Explore-@-Bristol

One of the UK’s most exciting interactive science centres for all the family. Explore involves people of all ages in an incredible journey through the workings of the world around us. There is always something new to discover with Explore's programme of special exhibitions - from animation to flight, illusions and sport! The chrome-plated, futuristic sphere in Millennium Square is the Planetarium, where you can sit back and take a trip to the stars beneath an immersive domed screen in the new seasonal star show.

Entertainment in Bristol

There is plenty going on, with everything from exhibitions at the Watershed Arts Centre to opera at the Bristol Hippodrome and exciting theatre at the newly renovated Tobacco Factory. The Bristol Old Vic is the oldest working theatre in the country and plays host to some of our favourite actors.

Shopping

Bristol is a Mecca for lovers of shopping everywhere. The recently opened Cabot Circus features 120 shops with 15 flagship stores and is home to the world famous Harvey Nichols. Right next door you will find over 300 high street shops in Broadmead and if it’s vintage and quirky you are after then Clifton village and Brandon Hill are a must. Just north of the city is The Mall at Cribbs Causeway which is ideal for a full day’s shopping under one roof.
